The Canadian Wheelchair Dance Academy
The CWDA provides opportunities for all people using wheelchairs to experience dance. The dream of dancing becomes a reality through our onsite and online wheelchair dance programs.
About Us
The Canadian Wheelchair Dance Academy connects wheelchair users to the sheer pleasure of music and dance. Participants, together with a dancing partner or in formation groups, learn movement, style and patterns in a variety of dances. Dancers can be all ages, mobility and skill levels.

The CWDA was founded by Toni Triplett, in 2007. Ms. Triplett is currently the Artistic Director and Principle Instructor for the CWDA based in Vancouver, B.C. Canada
Ms. Triplett has been teaching classical ballroom dance for over 30 years. She first began her dance career with the Fred Astaire Dance Studios.
Ms. Triplett's mission is to share her knowledge of wheelchair dancing with the world so all wheelchair users can enjoy the dance.

Online Classes and Courses Coming Soon in August 2011
Watch for these exciting opportunities to learn to wheelchair dance and train others to wheelchair dance in your organization or community right online. No more searchng and traveling outside your home or community to learn. All training will be available to CWDA members. Registration information will be available soon.
Training videos - Online training videos will be available to members of the CWDA. Training videos for couples, therapuetic recreation groups and exhibiton wheelchair dance groups or couples. Everyone can find something here...everyone will have a chance to dance.
Professional Indepth Training - Available soon to Recreational Therapists, caregivers and other professionals working with wheelchair users.
Webinars • Web conferencing will be used to conduct live meetings, training, and presentations via the Internet.
Community Events - This will give people all over North America an opportunity to mention what is happening with wheelchair dancers in their community. Wheelchair Dance Meetups around the world will eventually be available.
